So sick...

Nasal congestion, coughing, exhaustion.  I slept 1-6 last night, 9-10:30 this morning, and 4-7 this evening. I've drank more OJ and DayQuil than is probably recommended.  Hopefully I just need a few days rest.  I think I'll start training again once I can bike to class w/o wanting to stop half-way there to take a nap.

30 miles...

No, not at once.  Total for the week.  I laid down 11.3 today in 90'.  I did 14' running then 1' walking.  It kept my legs fresh and I was able to negative split the second 45'.  I was running roughly 7:30 pace for each 14' section.

Running Challenge

I've been doing this 100 Runs in 100 Days running challenge on Slowtwitch now for a bit over a month.  So far I have run 25/38 days, and I'm hoping to run 75/100 days total.  I haven't run this much since marathon training in the Fall of '09, and it feels great!

1/3-1/9: 29.4mi
1/10-1/16: 24.7mi
1/17-1/24: right now I'm at 15mi, and I have a run with the team tonight, and will run Saturday and Sunday (aiming for 30mi for the week)

My running seems to be going very well.  I have been doing a good mix of road, treadmill, indoor track, and trail so I don't get too bored with running the same routes all the time.  I need to start incorporating a long run though.

On another note, I was selected to be part of the first Falkee Triathlon Team.  I came across the post on Slowtwitch asking for top AG athletes.  I sent some race results from this past season and a few tidbits of information about myself and I was selected to be part of the team!  So far, the team has lined up a few sponsors (see sponsors below) who have agreed to offer free gear/discounts/etc. to the team members.  I'm absolutely stoked about this! I cannot wait to see how it all develops!

Lazy Week

In terms of everything but triathlon, I was ridiculously lazy all week.  I have never watched this much TV in my life.  I feel like a slob every day because I didn't do anything productive besides work out.  I need a schedule again in my life...when does school start again?

Oh yea, on Monday!
Here is my schedule:
Monday: 8-8:50 - Tissue Mechanics; 12:40-1:30 - Mechanical Vibrations; 1:50-2:40 - Mechanical Design II
Tuesday: 1-2:20 - Biomechanical Design
Wednesday: 8-8:50 - Tissue Mechanics; 12:40-1:30 - Mechanical Vibrations; 1:50-2:40 - Mechanical Design II
Thursday: 8-10:50 - Mechanical Vibrations Lab; 1-2:20 - Biomechanical Design
Friday: 8-8:50 - Tissue Mechanics; 12:40-1:30 - Mechanical Vibrations; 1:50-2:40 - Mechanical Design II

I'm pretty excited for Tuesdays.  Hopefully Tuesday becomes a day of productivity instead of a weekly SleepFest!

I've had some wicked training this week.  I've run about 30 miles and biked for about 5 hours.  Still lacking the swimming, but hopefully MSU TriTeam practices will kick my ass back into swimming shape.

Quick Update

Went swimming.

Looked like this

400 WU
100,200,300,400 swim
500 pull
200 CD
Total: 2100scy

Swimming is hard!  Especially after taking at least 2.5 months off. Ouch.

2 Runs 1 Day

It has been a looong time since I have run twice in one day.  Last time was when I was in high school and I ran a few miles as a warm up before lifting, then later that day we got bagged and had to run after hockey practice for screwing around too much on the ice.  I was incredibly sore the following day.  That being said, I have an idea of what I'm in store for tomorrow...however, today was a bit longer.  I did move up in the SlowTwitch 100 Runs in 100 Days challenge though.

12:00 - 5.5mi down in Lansing, easy pace about 7:30/mi with an avg HR of only 144 (which was surprisingly low for me!)
1:00-4:00 - laying on the couch watching American Gangster
4:30 - 4.1mi through campus at about 7:40/mi with an avg HR of 155 (seems my body may not have been adequately recovered!)

Anyway, no swimming today as I haven't swam in months and am a bit intimidated to get back in the water.  Also, I'm a bit worried about my ankle as swimming is what caused it to hurt quite a bit back in early November.  I'll try tomorrow as I have a big day planned (am swim, midday run, pm bike w/ quick transition run).  I figured this would be a good week for me to do some volume work as I have been doing steady base now for a few weeks.

I'm also going to try to outline a training plan for the next few months.  It will be mainly base as I am slowly preparing for Triple T and then IMWI, but I will have to add some speed work in there for Collegiate Nats in April.

Back in East Lansing

I ended my internship in Warsaw, IN on the 30th of December and moved out that same day.  I moved back to Portage, MI that evening, then went to Chicago the following day to spend time with Anna.  Came back to Portage on Monday and moved up to East Lansing on Tuesday.  I bet my car is more tired of driving than I am, but I still feel exhausted from it all.  Nevertheless, I am back in EL and living in a great place right next to Grand River Coffee (excellent!)

I biked for the first time in several weeks yesterday. Got to work out with some guys from the team for the first time since August.  My legs certainly felt a bit weak on the bike, but that may be due to playing hockey yesterday morning too.

Today, I plan on running and swimming (first time in months!).  I'll write tomorrow how it felt.  I'm also looking into getting some compression socks with my gift certificate to Tri-N-Run in Lafayette, IN.

Anyway, I'm off like a prom dress.  Time to go eat and then run.  Later!
